There are so many keepsake ideas out there. I don’t like to make something just to have it. Then you have so many keepsakes that they begin to feel like clutter. The ones I chose are well thought out for the longevity of preserving those memories and things I enjoy.
Here we go!
1. Newborn Onesie Sweatshirt
There are so many artists out there. I am so happy to have found Liz at 4GrayThreads on Etsy. My baby girl is the first and only grandbaby on both mine and my husband’s sides of the family. I had a beautiful knot gown her 1 day old photos were take in, and was so hopeful I could have 3 sweatshirts made for myself and for her grandmothers.
Liz was so easily able to accommodate the request. She even reached out and said there was more than enough material for a toddler sweatshirt also! I absolutely love them all and the name embroidery on the sleeve.
This is also a great option is you have multiple children. Each letter can be a different onesie/clothing piece!

2. Breastmilk Jewelry
These one of a kind jewelry pieces from Keepsake Mom (a Canadian company) are beautiful and a lovely keepsake of the journey in motherhood. There are lots of options available on their site. You can send in your own breastmilk, choose donor milk, or even formula for the creations.
The necklace options can include locks of hair or birthstone colors for more than one child as well.
I chose a necklace and sent in breastmilk my baby didn’t finish (no wasting that gold!) I also elected to have a lock of her hair swirled into the pendant, and 1/2 of the umbilical cord with the milk. The decorative red sparks represent her birth month, along with her name on the front. The back displays her birthday.
I want to wear this necklace and designed it with the intention to pass it on to her someday. She’ll always have a little piece of the connection between us.
3. Hospital pieces ornament
It’s so hard to give up these little pieces for me. The best way I can honor them is by displaying them once a year at Christmas time. I simply purchased clear ornament bulbs on Amazon. Then I added her hat, cord clamp, and all 3 of our bracelets (mine, hers, and dads) and what was left of her little umbilical cord stump.
I plan to tie a ribbon around the bulb and through the eyelit to hang it on the tree. I just haven’t made it into the attic to get down our Christmas supplies yet!

Dads
I haven’t yet found anything my husband would love to have. He’s not really into the material keepsakes.
I’ve brainstormed creating a keychain with a piece of the same knot gown used for the sweatshirt or a newborn photo. Like the photo below. However, he literally carries his car key without any keychains at all.
If anyone has a well loves keepsake for dad or grandpa, please share with me!

I love these few pieces to remember my babies’ first month. She has a lifetime to grow, and there will be many more memories along the way!
I plan on cherishing them all.
